In BC the Production and reporting requirements are similar to those of Alberta and soon to be Saskatchewan. However, the differences between the provincial requirements are very subtle and in BC’s case driven by the specific requirements they have under other laws and regulatory needs. These differences can lead to an operator being in non-compliance with the regulations and reporting requirements. This article will attempt to clarify the differences in BC and the reason for those differences. The hope is that mid-streamers and producers who operate facilities in BC will recognize their situation and be able to rectify their issues prior to an audit and any penalties or fines that the provincial regulatory bodies may levy.
